ACCEPTABLE WASTE

Please send us your wet or dry excess latex based paint. Paint colors can be mixed together.

Please note:

You cannot combine latex and oil based paint. Shipping of oil based is regulated by UPS and requires alternate shipping and handling due to its flammability.

All drums will ship via freight. If you are purchasing a latex paint drum, please be sure that the shipping address entered at checkout can accept freight shipments.

HOW IT WORKS

Please choose the size box you'd like to purchase. When you receive your box fill it with the appropriate waste streams. Once full, bring your box to any UPS location to ship your items back to TerraCycle using the pre-paid UPS shipping label which is already affixed to your box. When we receive your box, we'll safely recycle all of the collected materials.

PROCESS

The recycling of latex paint involves the separation of water and solids in the paint. The water and solids are then run through and extruder where the water is stripped as water vapor and the solids are melted and formed into pellets. The pellets can be used as a base for colorants or as additives to other recycled polymers.

UNACCEPTABLE WASTE

Please do not include oil based paint. In addition paint cans, paint brushes, paint rollers or paint sponges are also not acceptable. We will also not accept household hazardous waste such as  pressurized canisters, pesticides, medical sharps, organics, broken glass, bio-medical waste, soiled diapers or expired medication. In addition, we also will not accept any item that is classified as sharps, flammable, reactive, corrosive, ignitable, radioactive, toxic, infectious, or pathogenic.
