You can now recycle used chewing gum and prevent it from going to landfills.

Please only discard used chewing gum in the receptacle.

Please click here to access a helpful manual with installation instructions, receptacle specifications, and servicing instructions. Each receptacle comes with three stickers and three liners.

Once the receptacle has been installed, begin filling the receptacle with used chewing gum. As a safety precaution, please do not fill your receptacle more than 85% of its full capacity. When ready to empty, place a bag or bucket beneath the receptacle and unlock the receptacle door with the provided key. Seal the collected gum in a trash bag, and place the trash bag(s) into your Zero Waste Box. Once your Zero Waste Box is full, simply ship it back to TerraCycle.

The collected gum will be cleaned and blended with other plastics and rubbers to make new products.

Important Shipping Restrictions

For the Zero Waste Box system to work effectively and safely, please follow these simple shipping guidelines on how and what you can ship back to TerraCycle:

  1. Only send in items this system accepts. Sending in items that fall outside the selected category causes contamination and the need for added separation, which increases costs.
  2. Do not send in household items that may be considered hazardous waste. These include items such as lithium-ion batteries, pressurized canisters, pesticides, oil-based paint or medical sharps, organics, broken glass, biomedical waste, soiled diapers, or expired medication. Do not send in anything sharp, flammable, reactive, corrosive, ignitable, radioactive, toxic, infectious, or pathogenic.
  3. Do not send in medical waste. This includes material contaminated with blood or bodily fluids that originate from health care facilities, hospitals, physicians offices, dental offices, blood banks, veterinary clinics, research laboratories, etc.
  4. Do not ship dripping packages. Please make sure all excess product has been removed before putting it in your Zero Waste Box, Pouch, or Pallet. If you choose to rinse your items, please note that the system must be completely dry prior to shipping.
